About Masterhand Classical
Beautiful penmanship is an aesthetic achievement and a discipline that strengthens patience, attention and cognitive clarity. We design workbooks, copybooks and other classical education resources that elevate handwriting skills while reinforcing minds with noble values and divine scripture.
Our method
Handwriting taught in careful stages
Beautiful handwriting develops through patient practice. Our method gives children the time and structure to learn each form well, then gradually asks more of the hand as confidence grows.
Begin with the forms
Stage 1 (K-1) establishes the foundations. Children practise individual letters repeatedly, learning their shape, proportion and movement before bringing them together in words and simple sentences.
Progress towards fluency
Stage 2 moves into sustained copywork. Short selections gradually become longer as children develop consistent letterforms, spacing, rhythm and ease. Later stages continue this progression towards the longer passages expected in the middle grades.
Practise with worthy words
The material children copy matters. Our collections draw from Scripture, the Christian tradition, Charlotte Mason and, in later stages, literature, poetry, history and the enduring works of Western civilisation. Handwriting practice becomes an opportunity to dwell for a few moments on language worth knowing.
Print and cursive
Each stage is available in print and cursive. Our print hand uses a clean continuous-stroke manuscript style that encourages economical movement. Our cursive follows a traditional hand inspired by D'Nealian®, with carefully chosen modern letterforms.
